On Saturday April 27, at the headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, in the presence of the participants in the Study Week, an extraordinary meeting of the Academy took place, during which Professor Hans Jenny, a participant in the Study Week, gave a most interesting talk on the theme “Image of soils in landscape painting of the ages”. Abundantly illustrated by numerous projections of reproductions of famous canvases, this lecture gave the audience a general overview, from a pictorial point of view, of the different aspects of the soil as interpreted by painters of various periods, from Duccio di Buoninsegna to Dubuffet and other living artists.
